Geographic data shows where your visitors are coming from, down to the country and city level. This is valuable for content strategy, ad targeting, and scheduling posts for peak hours.
How geographic data is collected
Geographic data is derived from your visitors' IP addresses using a GeoIP database. This is approximate — city-level data is accurate to within about 50 km. IP geolocation does not require cookies or consent.
Using geographic data
- Scheduling: if most of your traffic is from Australia, post when it's daytime there.
- Language: if you see significant traffic from non-English countries, consider adding translated content.
- Ad targeting: use your top countries as audience targets in Meta, Google, and TikTok ads.
- Product localisation: stock or promote products relevant to your audience's location.
Data availability
Geographic data is available on all plans. Country-level data is available everywhere. City-level data requires the Pro plan or above.
Visitors using VPNs will appear to be in the VPN server's location, not their actual location. This typically affects a small percentage of traffic.
