Password security best practices

A strong password is your first line of defence. Here are best practices for keeping your LinkStacked account secure.

What makes a strong password

  • At least 12 characters long (longer is better).
  • A mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.
  • Not a dictionary word, name, or predictable pattern.
  • Unique — not used on any other website.

Use a password manager

A password manager (1Password, Bitwarden, Dashlane) generates and stores strong, unique passwords for every site. You only need to remember one master password. This is the single best thing you can do for your account security.

Changing your password

Go to Settings → Security → Change password. Enter your current password, then your new password twice. You'll be logged out of all other devices immediately after changing.

If you've forgotten your password

Click "Forgot password" on the login screen. Enter your email address and we'll send a password reset link. The link expires after 15 minutes for security.

Enable 2FA in addition to a strong password for the best account protection. See our 2FA setup guide for instructions.
